OUR (HUMBLE) STORY
Meet James Dawson (the guy over there → )
In 2009 he started hosting pop-up tastings & delivering wine with his motorbike, all while holding a full-time job in the City. Fast forward thirteen years, James & our Humble Grape team are directly importing over 400 sustainable wines straight from boutique wineries around the world, to fill the shelves of our five London based wine shop-bar-kitchens & to sell online to Mainland UK.
What separates us from any other hospitality team is that we’re made up of wine enthusiasts, going through weekly wine training with the winemakers themselves (one of the many reasons we call them “Hero Producers”), essentially becoming ambassadors of their work & ethos.
Wine bar, shop, kitchen, but what are you really?
The answer is ALL of it (& more). We are importers of sustainable wines from around the world. We sell our wines 24/7 online (delivering to Mainland UK), we host a badass wine club (always accepting new members), we love hosting wine tastings (we can build them for you, can come to yours to host or you can join one of our monthly events!), winemakers visit us often & we host winemaker dinners, oh and we can help you on your wine education (with WSET certifications). Lastly, our five London venues act as a wine shop, wine bar & kitchen. Chances are if it involves wine, we do it.
Who do you import wines from?
We import from small, family-run producers around the world who have a good story to tell. Their ethos are rooted in sustainability & taking care of the land for the future generations.
What do you mean by "sustainable" wines?
Most of the wines fall under organic & biodynamic, but don’t necessarily carry the certifications due to varying factors (such as the farm has newly adopted these methods, neighbouring business or don’t have the money!) but all the wines fall under natural & sustainable in their ethos.
