Château Monbrison
Meet Laurent Vonderheyden, whose family story reads like a wine soap opera: American pastor marries into Bordeaux royalty in 1922, Nazis destroy the vineyard, heroic daughter rebuilds it, and now Laurent runs the show with his four kids while dabbling in biodynamic wine farming. This is proper Left Bank Bordeaux with a twist – traditional châteaux meets experimental winemaking.
Château Monbrison is a family-owned estate in the heart of Margaux, tended by the Vonderheyden family since 1921. Their vineyards lie on deep gravel soils which naturally shape wines of subtlety and poise. The estate is known for thoughtful craftsmanship: small-scale, attentive, and dedicated to expressing Margaux’s graceful character rather than sheer power.
