Discover the Best of Spanish Wines at Humble Grape

Celebrating Spain’s Rich Wine Heritage

Spain isn’t just a country of passion, paella, and Picasso — it’s one of the world’s leading forces in winemaking. With the largest vineyard acreage globally and a tradition that spans centuries, Spanish wines are diverse, dynamic, and downright delicious. From powerful reds to delicate whites and innovative organic styles, there's something for every palate.

At Humble Grape, we're proud to spotlight six exceptional Spanish wines this month — handpicked from artisan producers who bottle history, innovation, and a little rebellious flair.

Let’s take a closer look at what’s on the menu.

1. Bodegas Vinessens 'El Telar', 2018 – Alicante, Spain

A bold Monastrell blend with a French twist

Keywords: Alicante wine, Monastrell, Spanish red wine

“El Telar” means the loom, and this bottle is a masterful tapestry of Spanish sun and French finesse. Sourced from 65-year-old Monastrell vines with a hint of Cabernet Sauvignon, it’s aged 15 months in French oak. The result? A velvety, spicy red wine bursting with black fruit, black jellybeans, and a taste of Alicante’s soul.

Produced by a visionary husband-and-wife team in a “garage bodega,” El Telar embodies Spain’s vino de autor (author wines) movement — expressive, experimental, and exciting.

2. Bodegas Robles 'Piedra Luenga' Fino – Montilla-Moriles, Spain

Organic, elegant, and aged under flor

Keywords: Fino Sherry, Organic Spanish wine, Montilla Moriles

This award-winning organic fino wine is made using the traditional “flor” method — a veil of yeast that protects the wine from oxidation while imparting complex, nutty aromas. With over 90 years of winemaking heritage, the Robles family produces one of Spain’s most celebrated fino-style wines, naturally aged in American oak.

It’s dry, fresh, and deeply expressive of the unique terroir of Montilla-Moriles.

3. Adria Vega Montán Godello, 2023 – Bierzo, Spain

A crisp and mineral-rich white from Galicia’s doorstep

Keywords: Godello wine, Spanish white wine, Bierzo wine

Sourced from the calcareous soils of Bierzo and made by fourth-generation winemakers Margarita and Rocío, this Godello is zippy, aromatic, and elegant. The Atlantic-influenced climate gives the wine its fresh acidity, while the rich soils add a lovely mineral undertone.

A perfect introduction to Spain’s rising white grape star.

4. Bodegas Paco García Tempranillo Blanco, 2023 – Rioja DOCa, Spain

Spain’s rare white wine discovery

Keywords: Tempranillo Blanco, Rioja white wine, Spanish white wine

Born from a natural mutation in a red Tempranillo vine in 1988, Tempranillo Blanco is one of Rioja’s hidden treasures. This 2023 vintage from Bodegas Paco García is citrusy and layered with tropical fruit, honey, mint, and spice.

Winemaker Juan Bautista García is on a mission to make wine more approachable for a new generation — and this fresh, flavourful white is the perfect start.

5. Adria Vega Montán Mencía, 2023 – Bierzo, Spain

Bold fruit and old-world soul

Keywords: Mencía wine, Bierzo wine, Spanish red wine

Made from hillside vineyards along the historic Camino de Santiago, this Mencía is bursting with ripe red fruit and silky tannins. Though once mistaken for Cabernet Franc, Mencía is now celebrated in its own right — especially in Bierzo, where it thrives.

This bottle speaks volumes of tradition, simplicity, and Spain’s quiet confidence in doing things its own way.

6. Pico Cuadro Vendimia Seleccionada, 2018 – Ribera del Duero, Spain

Silky, seductive, and supremely collectible

Keywords: Ribera del Duero wine, Tempranillo, Spanish fine wine

Made just metres from the legendary Pingus estate, this old-vine Tempranillo is smooth, spice-laced, and highly age-worthy. Crafted by Felipe Castrillo, who started his winemaking journey in a garage on his parent’s front lawn, the wine has since achieved cult acclaim.

A perfect showcase of the bold, structured reds Ribera del Duero is famous for.
