Clonakilla was established by John Kirk on a small 13 ha farm on decomposed granite near the village of Murrumbateman 25 miles north of Canberra. Andrew Caillard from Langtons called it “one of the most important advances in the development of Australian Shiraz since the release of 1952 Penfolds Grange Hermitage”. Clonakilla leads the way for spicy, elegant and perfumed cool climate Shiraz.
