Chateau de Montfaucon 'Comtesse Madeleine'
Product Description
Montfaucon village sits on the opposite (right) bank of the Rhône from Châteauneuf-Du-Pape. Approximately 200 years before the Appellation Contrôlée system was created in the 1930's, Montfaucon was one of the original 11 towns which formed La (as opposed to Les) Côte du Rhône to protect the quality of their wine. In 1737 the king's council ordered the barrels to be marked 'CDR' - considered to be the first appellation.
