Quick Overview

Each year Trapiche selects their top three growers of the vintage out of 100 innitial selections and honors them with a special bottling. These wines have proven over the past few years to be among the finest values in high-class Malbec.

Yields are a low 2,600 kg per hectare, furrow irrigation is used and the vines have been planted on their own rootstocks. Vineyard soils are alluvial and sandy, with many pebbles. Grapes are hand harvested into 20 kg. plastic cases, and bunches are selected before de-stemming. There’s a strict berry selection before fermentation and maceration in small concrete vats, for a minimum of 23 days, at 23-25ºC. Natural malolactic fermentation precedes aging for 18 months in new French oak barrels.

Product Description

Robert Parker 92: Wine Advocate # 184 Aug 2009 - Reviewer Jay Miller - The 2007 Malbec Single Vineyard Vina Adolfo Ahumada is purple-colored with a fragrant bouquet of sandalwood, spice box, incense, espresso, black cherry, and plum. Dense and layered on the palate, it has loads of succulent, spicy black fruit, underlying structure, and a lengthy, pure finish. Give it 3-4 years and drink it through 2022.
