Domaine Carneros Famous Gate Pinot Noir
Product Description
Following fermentation in small, open topped fermenters, the wine was transferred to 100% French oak barrels and aged for a total of ten months. An exhaustive French barrel program comprises seven cooperages that specifically air-dry wood staves for us for three years, yielding softer tannins and less astringency. Winemakers selected special lots from four clonally distinctive wines and composed the blend over a period of months to create a wine of finesse and depth. Forty five percent of the wine was
aged in new barrels. After bottling, Famous Gate matures an additional two years in the bottle before release.

| Tasting note | Loaded with fruit intensity. Aromas of plum, dark cherry, blackberry and raspberry fill the nose and intermingle with scents of toast, smoke and coffee. The wine hints of strawberry jam, cinnamon and chocolate. As always with this wine the texture is opulent and velvety soft. The wine is aged for 10 months in French oak 50% of which is new each year. |
